Evenings at Bulldega Urban Market

At the corner of W Parrish St. and Foster St. lies a neighborhood, family-owned market intimately embedded in the heart of Downtown Durham.  Only one block away from CCB Plaza, aka Main Square, and literally a ten-minute walk from Elliott Square, Bulldega Urban Market is your new one-stop-shop for all of your local Durham favorites.

Wall to wall, Bulldega is filled with locally-sourced artisan goods, humanely raised meat, unique finds, and everyday necessities. This family-owned business strives to promote Durham’s efforts in cultivating locally grown goods and supporting the farmers and families who produce them. After recently expanding into their new, larger location, Bulldega’s inventory has grown to add more variety than ever. Some local favorites available include:

  • Melina’s Fresh Pasta

  • Proof Wine & Spirits

  • Saladelia Cafe

  • Scratch

  • Short Winter Soups

  • The Parlour

  • Videri Chocolate

  • 9th Street Bakery

  • Bee Well Honey

  • Big Spoon Roasters

  • Bull City Candle

  • Counter Culture Coffee

  • East Durham Pie Company

  • Fillaree

  • Haw River Ales

If you can believe it, this is just half the list! New vendors are always being added, so you never have to worry about running out of new shops to explore.

By the end of your visit your basket is full - even if you planned on leaving with just one thing. (Which, after a couple of visits ourselves, we’re convinced it’s impossible to do). And honestly, you can’t really blame yourself here - with so much to choose from it feels like a Herculean task to leave the store empty-handed.

Night Shopping at Bulldega

Night Shopping at Bulldega

Since its establishment in 2016, Bulldega has strived to serve the increasingly residential downtown Durham by being an easily accessible, one-stop-shop. After relocating to their new home and expanding into the new 3800 sq. ft. space, Bulldega worked to diversify its product line. From bolstering their wine and beer selection to constructing a fully-functional kitchen for a variety of quick, grab-and-go meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - they’ve got it all.

With the new renovations and location, Bulldega has committed itself to be a community space - even creating a comfortable sitting area for you to enjoy every part of your visit. Additionally, they’ve begun hosting weekly wine tastings every Friday from 5 - 7 pm, each with a unique theme to explore - providing a passport in a glass as you explore wines from around the globe. Around the holidays, keep an eye out for their Holiday Open Houses! Each open house celebrates some of their local vendors by inviting them to the store for a free taste and sip of some of the best local offerings Bull City has to offer.

From local soaps and lotions to select wine and champagne boxes, they make it easy to find meaningful gifts that your friends and family actually want. Say goodbye to gift receipts and hello to your new pantry must-haves!

During COVID-19 Bulldega has made it even easier to get your favorite local goods online! Simply email your order to orders@bulldega.com for curbside pickup. Now more than ever, it’s vital that we as a community shop small in support of local producers and businesses that are struggling under current conditions. With the wide variety of goods available at Bulldega, there are plenty of opportunities to swap the super-center for a small store with big heart.
